About Debra

Debra in her studio.

Debra Brochin was born and raised in, California. While working full-time as a mail carrier in Carmel California, she studied art at the Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey California and in 1998 earned an Associate in Arts Degree in Studio Arts.

She discovered printmaking in 1999 and continued to study under Robynn Smith, Paul Roehl, and Tobin Keller, of Santa Cruz, California. Debra relocated to Port Townsend, Washington during the summer of 2004. She is currently pursuing art full-time as a painter and printmaker.

Some of her favorite printmaking techniques include monotype, dry point, collagraph, and chine collé. She has developed a passion for printmaking and its endless possibilities for experimentation. Debra loves the spontaneity of monotypes, the textures of collagraph and the transparency of chine collé. She loves getting lost in the process. Since her move to Port Townsend she has been painting with acrylics and finds that her printmaking techniques show up her paintings.

Debra is currently a member and manager of the Co-op, Gallery 9, in Port Townsend, Washington, and is a member and on the board of the Port Townsend Printmaker's Guild, Corvidae Press.
